What They Are:  Self defined and self-organized teams of providers and advocates who have committed to working together for the next 2-3 years to strategize and advocate for the purpose of influencing city elected officials to increase each city’s investment in community health and human services in their city.

Who Are the Participants: Human services providers and advocates who provide services to the residents of those cities. This could include program participants, board members, volunteers, and faith-based groups, as determined by each group or each strategy employed.

What the Advocacy Teams Do:  Decide together how they determine it would be most effective to influence and bring the Alliance message to their city elected officials, conferring with Alliance leadership to be sure strategies align with Alliance messages, and goals. Regularly report back on developments, especially those that may impact the Alliance or our overall strategy. Identify a leader to participate in the monthly Alliance Strategy Team meeting and one to participate in General Meeting and report on progress.

Resources the Alliance can provide:

  • A forum for participants (human service providers and allies) from across the county to work together on this common concern in a coordinated way

  • Identify some opportunities

  • Apply county-wide perspective and strategies

  • Share successful strategies

  • Media and messaging development

  • Coordination for analysis and action

  • Engage partners, within and across sectors
